MISSION ++

     Our mission is to provide sisterhood among women, scholarship, leadership and Asian awareness in the University and community. Further, to provide a support group for those in their times of need and to encourage the making of successful women. To accomplish our mission, we will:

+ Maintain the highest levels of quality and integrity

+ Create a climate that encourages teamwork, creativity, and innovation

+ Give our unmoving and absolute support and encouragement to those we hold dear to our hearts - our sisters
We will measure our success in how well we are regarded by our peers, represented by our competitors, and supported by our sisters.

PURPOSE ++

      The purpose of this Asian-American interest sorority is to promote sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, and Asian American awareness in the university and in the community, while encouraging the expression of the individual. The sorority is composed of highly motivated women with diverse backgrounds, interests, and fields of study. Each woman, however, shares a strong bond of love, friendship, and sisterhood. With a supportive network of sisters, each woman can strive to fulfill her personal, academic, and career goals.
LEADERSHIP ++

      Providing leadership opportunities and experiences enhances the sorority and teaches our sisters many important life-long skills. We encourage our sisters to join other organizations and hold leadership positions including:
+ Vice President, Secretary of VSA
+ Senior Marshal
+ Social Chair, Secretary, Treasurer of ASA
+ Masala Treasurer
+ Great Decisions Chair
+ President of National Student Speech, Language, & Hearing Association
+ Orientation Counselor
+ Transportation Chair, Secretary of ECASU 2002


SCHOLARSHIP ++

      Since its establishment, UNCaKDPhi has been recognized by the Office of Greek Affairs for the following achievements amongst all other Greek organizations at UNC-CH:
+ Highest Overall GPA
+ Outstanding Campus Involvement
+ Chapters with an average of 10 or more service hours

Individual sisters have also demonstrated their academic talent by being initiated into honors organizations such as Phi Beta Kappa, Order of the Golden Fleece, Sigma Gamma Alpha, and Order of Omega.


SISTERHOOD ++

      Quality time with the sisters include:
+ Spontaneous get together!
+ Birthday dinners, movies, and road trips
+ Girls night out
+ Slumber parties
+ Getting fit at the SRC and off campus (ice skating, bowling, etc.)
+ Sisterhood conferences and retreats with other aKDPhi chapters throughout the nation

We also attend other Greek fraternities and sororities and campus organizations to help strengthen the diversity of UNC's campus and support Asian Awareness. Some of our past events have included:
+ Presents and installs for each class
+ Participating as a member group of Masala
+ Dinners with other Greek organizations including Alpha Pi Omega, Omega Psi Phi, Theta Nu Xi, Sigma Sigma Sigma
+ Mixers with the Greek Alliance Council members
+ Service event with Sigma Gamma Rho, Kappa Alpha Psi, and NAACP
  +Mixers with other campus organizations
  +Spring Semi-Formal co-sponsored by KDPhi, UNC and Duke ASA


ASIAN AWARENESS ++

      As one of the sorority's goals, we promote Asian Awareness on our campus and our community. With such a small percentage of the minority group comprised in North Carolina and at UNC, the sisters strive to support Asian Awareness and strengthen diversity. In the past, sisters have done the following:
+ Helped create the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA)
+ Taken on Executive Board Postions for ECASU 2002
+ Taken leadership roles in the Asian Student Association (ASA)
+ Been involved with the Philippine-American Association of North Carolina (PAANC)
+ Helped as servers at Vietnamese night
+ Performed and modeled in UNC's Journey Into Asia and NCSU's Asia Night
+ Organized the multicultural performance of the International Festival at UNC-CH.
+ Performed a dance at Masala's Fashion Show that was a mix of different Asian dances and style
